I've been living in Boracay since November of this year. I havent really noticed the beach disappearing as such, apart from when it is high tide. My wife and I enjoyed our stay here very much and are looking to retire here so we had a look at a few developments and the only one available on White Beach is the Pearl which we found via a UK real estate agent site called questestates.com. The rest are on the wrong side of the beach where it is windy. There are two main beaches in Boracay i found, one is the White Beach which is in the Balabag side, and the other is the Bolabog Beach, which is located on the windier side of the island. Perhaps the beach in Boracay that is meant to be the windy part is the Bolabog side? Because where we purchased our apartment is on the White Beach side and the beach here is still very wide..

Like you darwin, me and my husband are finally planning to settle down at Boracay. I am just currently fixing all my papers to finally live in this tropical paradise. Besides Boracay, there are also a lot to explore here in the Philippines. I suggest you guys try visiting the Philippines and you'll find it pretty interesting here. I never thought I would love tropical country like the Philippines but I eventually did. I'll be soon returning honey. Prepare the chicken adobo for us!

Darwin, Boracay looks like a real paradise! I understand why you would like to retire there. Just a word of advice from someone who has lived in the tropics.I would keep something open back home, just don't burn your bridges for a while. Keep an apartment or a place back home where you can go back. Sublet if necessary.
I would try living in Boracay for maybe a year or two before making a financial commitment.
The reason is: it's different having a kind of extended holiday than really living abroad. A different culture, the hot climate and health issuers are to be considered. Many people find that they can't handle these issues long term.
