Article: Green Philippines

Thank author of this post/commentA few years ago, a major green revolution took the world by storm, with many people realizing that it is time for them to do their part in saving this planet, our only home. The Philippines is no exemption. Hundreds of pro-environment groups created many years ago have found allies with the worldwide campaign, with their fight for the environment getting a fresh, new start. Hundreds more have sprung up, all doing their part in increasing environmental awareness. In my city, the use of plastic bags have already been regulated. Stores have been ordered to issue earth-friendly bags. Plastic bags are only to be used when the item is wet or perishable. The campaign to recycle things thought to be ready for the garbage bin have also been revitalized. The local government is even acting as a huge junk shop buying scrap materials, which in turn they use for recycling programs and livelihood projects.Chemicals and substances that can hurt the environment were banned. In particular, the government prohibits farmers from using methyl bromide for pest management, after it was found to be harmful for our already depleting ozone layer.Tree planting, focusing on places where the once rampant illegal logging industry flourished, has also reached a new level. A certain school at the south required each student upon enrollment to plant a tree. The large number of students reportedly surrounded the school with newly planted trees.

It is a fresh start that people now are aware of the things that would really make the earth a little clean and good. It is really a great stuff that people in some places are now practicing the use of earth friendly matter than the used of plastic and other synthetic matter. I hope that, it may be as well practice in other place not only in the Philippines but in other places as well.

At some local stores in our places, we do use cloth bags in shopping and we do re use them every time that we do shop. We lessen the use of plastic bags for plastics are indeed not good for the environment. I just hope that this initiative continue and some more stores and establishments go along with this initiative towards a much healthier and cleaner environment not just for us but for future generations.

Well, it is nice that many people from all over the world are now aware of the things that they can actually do to help the environment. Well, as an ordinary citizen, our simple acts in making the earth a friendly and clean place to be is highly needed. The simple segregation of the said waste is a good start where people can actually know the things that they must and must not do.

The Philippines is pleased to pursue a green living. Even the business industry in the Philippines is becoming environmental friendly. The government has banned those chemical and materials used for making products that might destroy the environment. Most factories pursue to recycle some things so that they can save in the materials used. It is really ideal to put up a business in the Philippines. Thanks for the post.

It is worth noting that the government is very much into greening the Philippines and has even implemented a National Greening Program in partnership with the country's leading geothermal company, Energy Development Corporation (EDC) because this company has a model greening program named BINHI (which means seedlings in English). BINHI is the company's greening legacy program that aims to bring back and restore vanishing tree species. If the whole world will work to do the same, we can successfully alleviate global warming.
