Dubbed as the “Seafood Capital of the Philippines”, Capiz boasts of its 80-kilometer coastline and wide expanse of swampy lands easily converted into fishponds. It holds one of the richest fishing grounds and a major contributor in the aquamarine industry.

I wonder if there is alot of dynamite and cyanide fishing in this area? I would hope mostly legal fishing is done. Does that mean there is quite a bit of trading from there to other areas of the globe.

Explosive fishing? What kind of fish is illegal?

I am not getting something right, is there some sort of illegal fish? All I know is it is illegal to fish without a license or in a restricted area. Fish are reared and there has to be a regulation of how many can be harvested at a time. Either way, sneaking into a pond and fishing illegally and ending up with the authorities seems full of fun only if you can bail yourself out, don't you think?

"What kind of fish is illegal?"?Not that is one hilarious remark. I didn't know that there is a fish who can "swim" from the law hahaha. Come on people, try not to sound or look ridiculous when answering the forums. If you are not "that" efficient in using or understanding English, at least try to study it or just don't post something you are not sure of. Illegal fish hahaha now that's a good one.

Well to simply put it...There just a right number and kinds of fish to catch. People inside the country can only fish within the country's territory which has been mandated by international laws and agreement. Illegal fishing is the act of breaking such international, ecological and ethical laws mandated by the local and international authorities. A fisherman commits illegal fishing when he uses a poisonous cyanide to fish which is also called cyanide fishing or explosive fishing. Other nationalities who did not follow the right protocol for fishing within the Philippine seas is also considered an act of illegal fishing.

That is very true, there are indeed varieties of illegal fishing that are going on in the Philippines and in some other part of the Asian continent. It is saddening to hear that people do not know the effect of all those bad stuffs they are doing in mother nature, or even if they know the effects, they do not care at all and just continue with what they are doing.

Illegal fishing is one of the many problems in the Philippines. Aside from illegal fishing, you can also hear about the illegal way of catching fish, like using dynamites that also kills the little fishes that are supposed to be left at the ocean. I am not a environmentalist but this kind of activities really have a huge impact towards me as a human being. Have a great day guys.

"St. Pius X Seminary"
I have been to Roxas City before, Capiz's capital city. We stayed at St. Pius X Seminary wherein a Tito of mine is a resident. Initially I was scared at the idea of staying in Capiz because I was still relatively younger back then and I am scared of the tales about the Aswang and Manananggal roaming in Capiz. But it's hard to feel scared when you are presented with lovely beaches, lush vegetation, great food and warm people. I don't know how in the world people invented scary stories about Capiz. It's a really nice place and it does not deserve such awful labeling. However, I guess those scary stories somehow helped Capiz be remembered by many locals, although I'm not really sure if they remember the province in a good way. Probably not.
