Statistics show that the Philippine population could double in the next 30 years if trends stay the same. They have a higher percentage of births than many areas. Trackbacks

I wonder if that would be a good thing? For the population to rise... I somehow think it wouldn't.

I can't remember for sure, but I think they have a higher infant mortality rate than other areas as well. I know what you mean, the increase in population is probably not such a good thing in some areas. But, a birth is a blessing if you ask me.

I agree that in most cases birth is a blessing but in really overpopulated areas, it can be really bad. If the parents have no means of supporting the child, it can give the child a not so great childhood.I guess they do not have access to birth control as easily as Americans do then?

Population growth for a country which has almost 60% of its population below poverty threshold is not a good thing. Aside from the fact that birth control measures are not accessible, they are 'technically' scorned at by the Catholic church. But I think that it is also the church's responsibility to prevent people from giving birth to children who do not have access to food, clothing, shelter, and education. It's not only procreation that God is telling us to do. It's also providing basic human needs. The Philippine government needs to address this and fast!

The Philippines is now uber populated. Even tourist and expats are now crowding the country. Since the tourism of the country boomed, lots of foreign people who visited the country wants to stay forever and they add high figures in the population. The government is also not doing good in promoting family planning. Thats why many families are now over crowding in a small house.

I think religion that forbids birth control and at the same time is seemly blind to the over population is bad religion.
