Is Philippines generally GLBT friendly? For anybody who does not know what GLBT means, it means Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transexual. I really dont know much about how the GLBT community is viewed over in Philippines. Does anybody know?

You know joker, that is an interesting topic and I would also like to know from some of the locals or even tourists how it is in the Philippines. That was a great topic to find out more information on.

I actually found out the answer at a wikipedia page. The GLBT community is generally tolerated in the Philippines. There seems to be anti same sex marriage over there though. More information can be found here:

I live in the Philippines and I certainly know that GLBT communities are OK with the people here. But nevertheless, being the sole pure Christian country in south east asia, or maybe in the whole of asia as well, there are still a lot of church-driven communities who opposes this. But it's actually not a serious threat, because the Philippines is a free country, and for over a couple of years now, we've seen the success of gays and lesbians in their own field, so GLBT are respected in the Philippines.

You wouldn't have any problems in the Philippines. And it is good to note that a lot of successful Filipinos belong to the GLBT community. :) • Page 1 (Original Post) •
